OVERVIEW

Saint Michael’s Seminary offers courses designed to form priests and deacons in Scripture, theology, sacramental life, and Spirit-empowered ministry. Courses are accessible regardless of location and structured to integrate with work, parish ministry, and family life.

 
Saint Michael’s Seminary forms a new “Cohort” of students each year, who will together navigate the three year, twelve course Program of Instruction.  Each term consists of two courses, which are taught by live Video Instruction, currently Zoom, both courses taught the same Saturday.

Term 1

PS502 Walk in Purity

Explore the biblical foundation of Christian character and moral integrity. This course focuses on developing a lifestyle of holiness and spiritual disciplines essential for long-term ministry fruitfulness.

Term 1

CH-601 History & Theology of the Church

This course is intended to give the student a working knowledge of the historical sources of the Charismatic Episcopal Church’s Sacramental stream: Roman Catholicism, Orthodoxy, and Anglicanism. It is also intended to provide the student with a critical
evaluation of Reformation theology and practice

Term 2

PS-503 Walk in Power

An in-depth study of the Holy Spirit’s role in the believer’s life. Learn to operate in spiritual gifts, understand the dynamics of prayer, and lead with divine authority in your local community.

TH-550 Three Pillars

Master the core theological frameworks that support the Christian faith. This course examines the essential doctrines of Scripture, providing a stable foundation for ministry and personal discipleship.

BS-501 Old Testament Theology

Discover the rich narrative and theological themes of the Hebrew Bible. Analyze the covenants, the law, and the prophetic voices that point toward the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan.

LS-601 Liturgy and Sacramental Theology

Examine the sacred rituals and traditions of Christian worship. This course bridges the gap between ancient liturgical practices and modern sacramental understanding in diverse ministry contexts.

Term 2

BS-510 New Testament Theology

Unpack the message of the Gospels, the birth of the early church, and the Pauline epistles. Focus on the life of Christ and the theological implications of the New Covenant.

BS-550 Homiletics & Hermeneutics

Learn the art and science of biblical interpretation and preaching. This course equips students to accurately handle the Word of Truth and communicate it with clarity, passion, and relevance.

Year 3

Term 1

BS-610 Unity of the Bible

Trace the “scarlet thread” of redemption from Genesis to Revelation. Understand how the diverse books of the Bible form one cohesive, divine narrative centered on Jesus Christ.

Term 1

PS-510 Foundations in Pastoral Care

Prepare for the practical realities of ministry leadership. Learn essential skills for counseling, crisis intervention, and shepherd-like leadership within a congregational setting.

Term 2

TH-501 Systematic Theology

A comprehensive categorization of Christian beliefs. Organize your understanding of God, humanity, sin, and salvation into a logical, scripturally-sound theological system

Term 2

TH-610 Thesis Paper or PS-610 Ministry Project

The capstone of your theological journey. Students choose between deep academic research (Thesis) or a practical, hands-on application of leadership principles (Ministry Project).

CURRICULUM SAINT MICHAEL’S SEMINARY

OVERVIEW

Each course at Saint Michael’s Seminary includes assigned readings designed to support theological depth, spiritual formation, and pastoral wisdom.

Church History Curriculum

Course Objectives:
1. The student should be able to articulate the significant points of agreement and divergence between Roman Catholicism, Orthodoxy, and Anglicanism, and to explain the historical and theological reasons for those divergences.
2. The student should be able to defend the position of the Charismatic Episcopal Church as being a true part of the Church Catholic.
3. The student should be able to explain how the CEC embodies the ideals of the Reformation in its Faith and Practice without sacrificing its Catholicity.

Practical Application for Parish Ministry:
1. The student will be able to deal with parishioners’ and visitors’ questions and reservations about the Faith and Practice of the CEC with a sensitive understanding of the Faith Traditions from which the questioners may be proceeding.
2. The student will be equipped to minister out of the fullness of the Catholic Tradition.

Week 1—introduce the textbook (listed above) and its varied theological Views—encourage students to choose an area where they are least Informed e.g. orthodoxy or Roman Catholicism and to do a ccomprehensive paper for their final project for this course.

Week 2—lecture on the roman catholic church its dogma’s and doctrines. We will cover the great schism of 1054 A.D. and explain the Theological divide that still exists today between the Roman Catholic And the Eastern Orthodox churches.

Week 3—lecture on eastern orthodoxy and its distinctions from Protestants and the roman catholic church. A discussion about the Canonical books and their acceptance in both communions.

Week 4—the pre-reformers and the reformation will be discussed. The 95 Theses of Martin Luther will be read together stressing its opposition to the roman catholic church including its apparent abuses in Theological thought and practice.  We will examine protestant doctrine including its emphasis on Scripture alone and justification alone—especially examining the Concepts of law and grace. There will be some emphasis on the second Great Awakening reviewing the works of Jonathan Edwards and the Evangelistic campaigns of Billy Graham
